In week two of the preseason we get to see a little more action from the starters. This means that someone like Kirk Cousins could get an extra series or two. Obviously, the Philadelphia Eagles will be extremely cautious in trying to avoid injury.
This game will be available on the NFL Network (TV) and the NFL Gamepass. You can also stream the game through a TV provider like DirecTV by logging in on the NFL’s main website. However, the Gamepass might be the most reliable streaming option, as it often has bugs. FuboTV also has every NFL preseason game with a free trial.
One big thing to watch this weekend is the Falcons wide receiver rotation. They seem to still be working out the depth chart with at least one starting spot up for grabs. Marqise Lee seems save as one starter with the competition coming in the slot and the other outside spot.
Keelan Cole should have an inside track as he was the team’s best receiver late last season. He’s someone with big-play ability while also capable of working the underneath routes.
DeDe Westbrook has drawn positive reviews during training camp and is someone who could work well out of the slot. Rookie D.J. Chark’s speed is something that can’t be matched by the other receivers on the roster. Jacksonville will absolutely want to take advantage of his skill set.
The Atlanta Falcons are in Minneapolis, Minnesota right now and are about to start Day 1 of joint practices against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Falcons will join their fellow we-were-one-game-away comFalcons ahead of a Week 4 preseason matchup. The practice starts late (3:45 PM what?) but that’s good for those of us who get all our work in for the morning and can watch the practice unfold via tweets, videos, and live analysis.
For the Eagles, they are still waiting on star quarterback Carson Wentz to 100 percent recover from the torn ACL he suffered at the end of last year. Subsequently, Nick Foles — who did win this team a Super Bowl — will be the starting quarterback in Week 1. With Alshon Jeffery also out though, this Philly team might need to rely heavily on their defense to find success on Thursday.
Then there’s the Falcons, who are running it back with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and the generally same host of weapons. Perhaps the biggest addition, though, is rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Pairing the first-round pick with Jones in the offense could make for a lethal duo. That is, of course, if Steve Sarkisian can coach the unit better than he did a season ago.
